Predator-Proof Coop Checklist

Use this checklist like a predator would: look for the easiest way in, not the prettiest part of the coop.

Pull and reach test

Pull gently on wire, check staples and screws, test latches, and look for gaps where paws or teeth can work. If a raccoon can reach through, the opening needs better protection.

Edge and roofline test

Check under the run, around doors, at corners, and where the roof meets walls. Digging and roofline gaps are easy to miss during a normal walk-by.

Routine test

Predator-proofing fails if the door is left open. Make the closing routine easy, visible, and repeatable.
